Product Description
Hyacinths are a great choice for indoor forcing during the winter months, but do require a little patience. Other then that one will be rewarded with color and its famous fragrance when little else is in bloom. The Hyacinths for this purpose are very large to ensure success. They have been given a special treatment by the grower to simplify and shorten the steps you have to take to force them into bloom. Our Hyacinth kit comes with everything one needs to grow this exotic plant: One large Hyacinth bulb, sized 18/19 cm , a nursery pot with drainage, planting medium, greenish sheet moss for top dressing, and an iron ribbed brass finish like decorative planter, sized approximately 4″x 4″x 4″.

- Care Instructions: Hyacinths bulbs will require an additional period of cooling once potted before they will bloom. By using a pre-chilled bulb you speed up this process. To grow indoors as a house plant proceed as follows: Expand the soil block(s) which comes with the kit, following the included directions, then fill about half the pot with the medium. Next place the Hyacinth bulb, pointed side up, basel plate down on the soil. Cover the planted bulbs with remaining soil, leaving just the very tips exposed. Tighten soil around bulb the best you can. Place the entire pot in a closed poly bag in the refrigerator ( you are putting them though a fake winter). Leave them there for about 3 months during which time you will see visible growth. Soil should stay moist so add a little water if it needs it. You will see shoots appear as they grow. Remove from refrigerator and poly bag and place in a cool window to force them into bloom. Much has been written about forcing hyacinths which is an art and can be read about on the Internet.
